Responding to God’s Invitation: Conversion and Witness
Sunday Nov 19, 2017
Sunday Nov 19, 2017
Bishop Daly preaches at the annual White Mass for healthcare workers. Accepting God’s invitation to the wedding feast of heaven requires turning away from sin and allowing God to transform our hearts with his love; otherwise we will be reduced to helpless silence before the judgment of Christ (c.f. Mt. 22:12). Catholic members of the healthcare are called not to be silent, but to build up the culture of life through their unique vocation.

Cardinal Cupich Preaches at the Cathedral
Wednesday Oct 04, 2017
Wednesday Oct 04, 2017
A homily for the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A) by Archbishop Blase Cardinal Cupich: The parable of the landowner who goes out to hire idle workers over the course of the day (Matthew 20:1-16a) informs us about God's action in our lives and how we relate to God. We are like the idle workers of the parable who are lost; they don't know what to do. God, like the landowner, persistently seeks us out and offers his grace throughout our lives and at unexpected times.

Living Hope and a "Happy Death"
Wednesday Oct 04, 2017
Wednesday Oct 04, 2017
A homily for the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A), by Monsignor Robert Pearson: In the second reading (Philippians 1:20c-24, 27a), St. Paul speaks about longing "to depart this life and be with Christ," in other words to die. However, many of us don't share that same enthusiasm! The Christian virtue of hope (placing our desire in heaven) allows us to embrace death as much as we embrace life.

A homily for the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A) by Father Kyle Ratuiste: In light of the recent shooting at Freeman High School and the unexpected passing of Deacon John Sicilia, we can turn to our faith for solace and strength. By looking to the Cross, standing with Mary, and belonging to our Lord, we can benefit greatly from the support our treasury of faith offers us in times of trial and loss such as these.

Car Rentals and Stewardship
Sunday Sep 17, 2017
Sunday Sep 17, 2017
A homily for the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A) by Father Darrin Connall: All parishes across the diocese were asked to mark this Sunday as Stewardship Sunday. God has entrusted us as stewards with time, talent, and treasure. Just as there are consequences for damaging a rental car, there are conseuqences for not being fitting stewards of the gifts we have received from God. We are called to generosity, but God can never be outdone in generosity.

Youth Group, Discipleship, and the Need for Transformation
Sunday Sep 17, 2017
Sunday Sep 17, 2017
A homily for the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A) by Father Kyle Ratuiste: To be a disciple -- that is to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ -- requires the transformation and the renewal of our minds. Otherwise, we are liable to lose our faith because our outlook is worldly rather than godly. One of the groups most in need of this transformation of mind are our youth; 50% of those who leave the Church do so by the time their 18! Fr. Ratuiste, the youth minister at the Cathedral, calls on the parish to support our youth ministry to help create an environment of transformation, Christian friendship, and mentorship for our young disciples.
